Lhasa Travel, Tibet Travel Information for Your China Vacations – Safety

This arctile is about the Safety issues of the Lhasa travel and Tibet travel. You can find some useful information in it if you are planning your trip to Tibet now.

In the Tibet Tourism Forum 2008, Zhang Qin Li, the governor of Xizang (Tibet) Autonomous Region, gave a speech about the importance of the travellers’ safety. He said “the Government of Tibet,China is now working very hard to make Tibet the Safest Tourism Destination in China.” ( good news for your Lhasa travel or Tibet travel, :-) )

Tibet is called “roof of the world” and the high altitude of Tibet makes it an adventure travel destination for people from all over the world. The oxygen density is only about 50% of the normal non-high-altitude places. The altitude sickness in Tibet is because of the lack of oxygen. The road condition in Tibet is another challange for the tourists planning their Lhasa travel or Tibet travel. Most roads here are the mountain roads and this makes the tibet travel more difficult for the travellers. Now the safety issue is becoming the biggest concern of the tourists. They gave many suggestions and comments to the Government of Tibet,China.

The Government of Tibet, China is now trying the best to improve the safety of the tourists in Tibet. They use a safety system named “4 in 1″. This means the Tibetan Safety System will include 4 sub-systems: safety education system, safety alarm system, emergency help system and travel insurance system.

Currently, the GPSes are starting to be used in the cars. They can give tourists the speeding alarms and help them to avoid the risky mountain roads. Another critical function of these GPSes is that they can dial 110 (the phone number for emergency in China) automatically when necessary.

The TTB(Tibet Tourism Bureau) is sending thousands of short messages to the tourists every day. These short messages include all kinds of useful information about the safety issues in Tibet and they can provide tourists the timely safety education and safety alarms.

Also, the TTB has increased the coverage of tourism insurance in Tibet greatly. In the most updated insurance contract, the coverage is changed from 160 thousand rmb to 300 thousand rmb ( for the severe accidents ). You can also get an extra coverage of 200 thousand rmb in some Tibetan travel agents if you want. This is a big improvement for the Travel Insurance System of Tibet. (Another good news for your Lhasa travel or Tibet travel)

Now the Tibetan traffic conditions have been improved dramatically. The Qingzang railway and the Linzhi airport are starting to run. The total number of tourists to Tibet is about 4 million in 2008. (A increase of 60% comparing with 2007) Tibet is becoming more and more attractive to the global tourists now !

Tips for Taking Picture During Travel

Travelling is fun and enjoyable. You will see new places and events that you never experience before. Isn’t that worth capturing on photo? This kind of memory is priceless when you look at them in the future.

So, here are some tips to share with you about travel photography

1. Know your destination

When you are going for a trip, you ought to check the weather at your destination. Plan ahead what you need to bring and how much space you have for your digital camera.

It is nice that you are going somewhere sunny and bright. Then you will have plenty of space for your camera instead of stuffing your luggage with the equipments. When you plan to take picture at the beach, see that you will bring protective gears to protect your camera because sand can ruin your camera and lens.

2. The gears

Since you already know where you are going, you will have the idea of what you are going to photograph. Let’s say that you are on a hiking trip, what you will see is mostly scenery. So, probably you can leave your telephoto lens and pack the wide angle lens for your trip. However, when you are on a trip to Africa, where wild life is your subject, probably you will need that telephoto lens so you can stay away from the lions when you are taking their pictures.

Besides that, have you thought of using a compact digital camera instead of the DSLR? Some point and shoot cameras are build with wide angle lens and high optical zoom. If you are unsatisfied with the pictures, you can always edit them with editing software when you are back from your trip.

3. The right accessories

Now, when you are taking picture during your travel, you will have hard choices of what to keep and what not. Most of the time, you will take a few pictures on the same subject. So, probably you will want to bring more memory cards or a bigger capacity storage media.

Have you ever thought of storage online? Now you can keep your images online and a lot of these services are free. When you need more space, you can always upgrade your account. In this way, you will solve the frustration of giving up any pictures.

Lhasa Travel, Tibet Travel Information – Main Tibet Tours

This arctile is about the Tibet tours and you can find some helpful information in it if you are planning your trip to Tibet now.

The Main Tibet Tours
Lhasa is the capital of Tibet and is the politics, ecomony and culture center of Tibet. It will take you at least 2 or 3 days to see this unique Tibetan city. I reommend that you plan a 7 days’ trip for your Lhasa travel . 2 or 3 days for the “Sky Lake” and 3 to 4 days for Shannan or Rigazhe. You can experience the unique culture of Tibet in these areas. What attract millions of tourists here is the religious culture of Tibet and it will be a pity to miss these traditional Tibetan places if you are alreay in Tibet. There are six notable areas for tourists in Tibet and they are: Rigazhe, Shannan, Naqu, Ali, Linzhi and Changdu. Here are the most popular tours for your Tibet travel:
(1). Lhasa – Rigazhe – Lazhi – Zhangmu. This is a traditional tour for the foreign tourists and is recommended by most Chinese travel agents. You can visit the second largest city of Tibet – Rigazhe in this trip for your Tibet travel. The brilliant Zhishilunbu temple and Banchan Palace is in Rigazhe. Other attractions in this tour are: Yaluzhangbu River, Shaga Temple, Mount Forest. The whole trip will take 8 to 12 days.

(2). Lhasa – Rigezhe – Lazhi – Cuoqin – Gaizhe – Geji – Shiquan River – Pulan. This tour is not an easy one. But it is very attractive. You will go throught the Aligaoyuan(it is called the roof of the world), Mount Sanmubati, Snow Mountain Balingang, Mysterious Guge Palace. Now this tour is becoming the most popular one in Tibet travel because you can experience the unique culture and natural scenes of Tibet in it. Although it is a tough trip, it is still the first choice for thousands of adventure travellers. This tour takes 3 weeks.  ( I will choose this trip for my Tibet travel, it is an exciting one )

(3). Lhasa – Jiangmu – Rigezhe – Lhasa. This tour will go through the Qushui Bridge, Mount Gangbala, Yangzhuoyong lake. When you arrive Jiangzhi city, you can visit the famous Baiju Temple(It is also called Wanfota). This trip focuses on the Tibetan religion and culture and the total time it will cost is about 2-4 days.

(4). Lhasa – Shannan. Shannan is called the “Birth place of the Tibetan nation” and it was the center of an old civilization named “Yalonghegu”. The attractions of this trip are: Shangye Temple – the first temple of Tibet, Changzhu – the fist Buddha hall of Tibet, Suodang – the first farmland of Tibet, Yabulakang – the first palace of Tibet. They are all telling tourists the old Tibetan culture and history. This tour is mainly about the history of Tibet and 2-3 days will be enough for it. ( A good choice for your Lhasa travel or Tibet travel if you are interested in the Tibetan history )

(5). Lhasa – Naqu – Germu. This is a trip along the Qingzang road and focuses on the scenes of the Tibetan grasslands and snow mountains. The main attractions for this trip are: Chubu Temple, Yangbajing, Namucuo Lake, Mount Lianqingtanggula and Naqu. This trip is about 1200 kilometers long.

(6). Lhasa – Linzhi – Shannan – Lhasa. The most attractive place for this tour is Linzhi. It is called a place like Heavan in Tibet. The famous Lalvzhangbu Valley is right here in Linzhi. It is a very attractive place for the scientists and adventure travellers. The total length of this trip is about 2000 kilometers and usually it will take 4-7 days.( I like the beautiful Linzhi. It is another good choice for your Lhasa travel or Tibet travel )

Some tips: You will have a comprehensive understanding of Tibet if your plan for the Tibet travel is more than 2 weeks. A jeep or SUV will be helpful for your Tibet tours.

Waterfront Backyard Makeover

Here we are on location again in South Florida. Some times you can’t just build a cabana or a pergola or a tiki hut to do the job, you actually have to extend off of the house. This is a home extension where we’re going to be building a patio deck similar to this one here on the other side. What we’re doing is giving an extra roughly 200 square feet so we can do our outdoor kitchen area, a bar area and an entertainment area. You can see how we’re tying in here with the form work to do a poured concrete top, something very solid. As you can see we’re on the water in South Florida and one of the things you want to do is build something very sturdy. Much more to come where we’re going to be removing this step area here, putting in a bar and barbecue area. Just an all around great time for everybody. This will also all be redone in terms of pool finish, the wall, the pavers, even doing some work on the columns to modernize it and put lighting in and really give it that outdoor feel where it’s very elegant and relaxing at the same time.

More to follow, thanks for visiting us, come see us at www.OutdoorFL.com

Will Your Car Insurance Travel Well?

If you are planning to drive abroad in the school holidays you need to check exactly what type of car insurance cover you have.

A lady in London was shocked by how much she had to pay out for two minor accidents, even when she had bought insurance for her hire car. The two small scrapes, breaking a headlight and bumping the left wing of her car against a second rental car when parking, would probably have cost her little more than £100 each. Instead, she ended up paying out £1,237 in excess penalties.

When you rent a car in the UK or on abroad, the price includes fully comprehensive insurance but many people are not aware of the inflated excess charges which can be as high as £1,000 on the continent. Online provider, insurance4carehire, confirms this saying almost four out of 10 holidaymakers don’t know that they could be liable for these costs.

One way to get the cover you require without is to pays around £69 for an annual standalone policy, available from companies like insurance4carhire which covers all eventualities (including damage to underbody, tyres and windows, which are usually excluded in excess-waiver policies from car hire companies).

Every year three million British drivers set off to the continent, yet the price comparison website uSwitch says that two thirds aren’t sure if their insurance covers them or not. Apparently, ten per cent of Britons embark upon a driving holiday with the somewhat cloudy and incorrect notion that driving accidents are covered by our travel insurance. Remember to read the small print, whether you are hiring a car or driving your own.

Mistake number one, if you are driving your own car, is to assume that your own fully comprehensive insurance necessarily provides the same level of cover when you are not in the UK. It does not. EU law only states that insurers are obliged to provide the bare minimum – which means third-party cover. This, of course, will not protect against accidental damage, theft or accident claims and only pays out for damage sustained to another person or car.

Ashton Berkhauer, an insurance expert at uSwitch, reckons that very few of the main providers offer free cover more than three days. The exceptions are eCar and Saga, which both provide driving cover abroad for 365 days a year. Barclays it will charge you £21.50 for up to 90 days’ cover, and with Admiral it will cost you £9 for four days and £17 for up to 30.

Paul Baxter of Tescocompare.com recommends that drivers should also make sure they have adequate breakdown cover. Breakdown cover in the UK can cost as little as £30 a year, and the cheapest Europe-wide policy is £69, this covers an annual trip of up to 31 days in Europe (IC Breakdown relating to a 30-year old man driving a Ford Focus with an annual mileage of 12,000).

However, Peter Gerrard of price comparison site Money-supermarket.com points out that some of the less expensive policies (not including IC Breakdown) are fairly stripped-down and you have to pay when the breakdown occurs, then claim the cost back on your return. Single-trip policies can also be bought for about £42 from the RAC, AA and Europ Assistance.

Graco Travel System

Graco is the world renown for their innovative products, stylish designs and great value.  One of Graco’s greatest innovations was the travel system. Combining an interlocking stroller, infant car seat and car seat base the Graco Travel System allowed parents to transport a sleeping baby from stroller to car without having to take them out of their safety harness.  The Graco travel system also allowed for new parents to buy their needed gear all in one shot with the peace of mind that the different parts would all work in sync and match style-wise.

The Graco travel system comes with one of several infant car seats.  The Snug Ride seat fits infants from 5 to 22lbs and 29 inches long.  For a little bit more the Snug Ride 32 fits infants up to 32lbs and 32 inches long.  Finally, the Infant Safe seat holds infants from 5 to 30lbs.  All are built to the highest safety standards, constructed from EPS shock absorbing material for the best impact protection.  Depending on the Graco travel system, you may have an option on which seat you get.

Light Weight Graco Travel Systems

MetroLite $239.99:  At only 25.6lbs total you’ll be shocked at the amount features are packed into this Graco travel system.  The parent storage tray with cup holders, multi- position reclining seat, child’s tray, lockable swivel font wheels and great suspension will all make you think you bought a more expensive, full size stroller.

Lite Rider $159.99: A great Graco travel system for the value; you get many features found on more expensive strollers. A one hand fold, child and parent’s tray, easy to reach drop down basket and reclining seat all make life easier for you.  Besides not having all the bells and whistles, the Alano falls short on its color options.  Graco only makes one color pattern for the Lite Rider Graco travel system

Alano $179.99:  Get the best in design and style with this value Graco travel system.  The one hand folding system breaks the stroller down into an upright position.  No bending needed to transport!  Sturdy construction, a host of convenient features and a great neutral stylish design make this stroller a must have.

Full Size Graco Travel Systems

Quattro Tour and Quattro Tour Deluxe $249.99/$269.99: The flagship of the Graco travel system line up, the Quattro Tour is loaded from top to bottom with convenient features and great construction.  The aluminum frame, lockable front swivel wheels and easy one touch brakes make for a durable, easily maneuverable and safe stroller.  The one hand gravity fold breaks the stroller down with only one touch from you.  The deluxe parent tray is great for personal storage or bottle of water while you will love the large under seat storage basket.  This Graco travel system is sold in two models.  The Deluxe version comes with the Snug Ride 32, while the regular version comes with the Snug Ride infant seat.  The Quattro Tour and Quattro Tour Deluxe are hands down the best on the market.

Glider $179.99:  Lighter and cheaper than the Quattro Tour models, the Glider is a great travel system for the price.  While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of its bigger sibling, it’s still packed with convenient features like: canopy with peek-a-boo window, parent and baby trays, and large storage basket.

Vie4 $209.99:  Stylish and packed with great options like the stand up folding system the Vie4 is a great travel system for the price.  If the Quattro Tour models aren’t for you, then I suggest you take a look at the Vie4.  One downfall of the Vie 4 Graco travel system is that it’s only available in two color choices.

Spree $169.97:  Sold only as a Graco travel system, the Spree comes only with the Snug Ride Car seat.  It’s well equipped for the price and while you don’t get all of the convenient features of other travel systems, the price more than makes up for it.  If you’re on a budget the Spree is the way to go.

Stylus $189.99:  This hard to find Graco travel system is not based completely on the Mosaic stroller, but has a lot of the same style notes.  Its sleek design combines with a host of convenient features to make for a nice alternative to the larger strollers in its class.  Complete with Snug Ride car seat this stroller is a nice addition to the Graco travel system family.

The highest form of flattery is imitation and ever since Graco came out with their travel systems other stroller manufacturers have been trying to catch up.  This genius innovation from Graco is now common place in the market, but the originators are still the best out there.

Checklist for Phuket Travel

If you are planning to travel to Phuket, then no doubt you’re as excited as a kid in a candy store. Before you get too carried away with dreaming about how you’re going to spend you’re time on the island, there are a few items you need to cross off your list before you get to the island.

Planning Phuket travel doesn’t require too much effort, but there are a few key things you need to get done. The first is to book a hotel in Phuket. People sometimes leave this until the last minute, which is a surefire way to end up with an inferior deal than if you’d booked at the first instance. The best way to get cheap Phuket hotels is to book online and book in advance.

If you’re traveling during high season, especially around October to January, the best and cheapest Phuket hotel rooms will be snapped up unless you get your skates on. Phuket travel is made all the more satisfying when you know you got the best deal on your hotel.

One you’ve got your hotel sorted, you’re going to need to book your Phuket flights. Phuket travel would be nothing without those flights, so get in early and hunt out the best deals. Consult an online travel agent who will compare the best prices of a number of airlines. As with booking cheap Phuket hotels, the further in advance you book, the more likely you are to get the best possible deal.

If you’re planning on flying from Phuket to other destinations in Thailand, book those flights as early as possible, too. Air Asia is usually the cheapest operator for domestic flights, but the prices go up as the seats get taken.

So you have your hotel confirmed and your flights booked. There’s not much left to sort out before you can travel to Phuket safe in the knowledge that all your bases are covered. However, whatever you do, don’t forget to book travel insurance for your vacation to Phuket.

A lot of foreigners end up in accidents and don’t have the travel insurance to cover their hospital bills. This is like committing financial suicide. Just because the cost of living is so cheap in Thailand doesn’t mean that you can waltz in and out of a hospital without incurring a hefty bill.

That’s flights, insurance and hotels – the three most important things you need for Phuket travel. Although you can book tours and excursions online, plans tend to change once people reach the island. Wait until you get to Phuket before you book any diving day trips or jet-ski rides.
